I work to help clients find relief from anxiety, depression, codependency, addictions, brain trauma, OCD, family relationships, eating disorders, and trauma. In addition I offer support through difficulties that arise from life situations/changes including pregnancy, postpartum, marriage, pre-marriage, and motherhood. Below is a brief description of a few of these topics which I am most passionate about.
Do you often feel restless or on edge? Do you feel exhausted from daily experiences? Is it difficult to focus in certain situations? Have you experienced chest pain, nausea, dizziness, or chills without a physical health cause?
Anxiety makes even small tasks seem daunting and big tasks seem impossible. It invades your professional and social life and takes a toll on your self esteem. Through counseling, you learn to take charge of thoughts that lead to feelings of anxiety, practice relaxation techniques to ease uncomfortable feelings, and gain information about the connection between diet, exercise, the brain, and anxiety.
pregnancy, postpartum, & motherhood
Is motherhood not what you expected? Do you feel like you don't measure up? Are you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted? Do you feel like you have lost yourself? Are you experiencing conflict in your relationship during pregnancy or the birth of your baby?
Trying to put on your best face for your children every day can prevent you from expressing the true thoughts and feelings you hide beneath the surface. Meeting with a counselor gives you a safe opportunity to express those thoughts and feelings, as you journey to a place of internal and external congruity and find balance in your life.
Are you exhausted from carrying the burdens of those around you? Is it really hard to say "No' to others' requests? Do other people's comments and actions turn your good day into a bad day? Do you have a strong desire for those around you to act in the way you see is best?
If you identify with some of the symptoms of codependency, there is help and relief. Through a process that includes recognizing and understanding current habits and initiating new healthy habits you can start experiencing the assertive, self-assured, joyful side of yourself. Seek counseling and/or join a 12 step program for help and support.
Can you not find anything that makes you happy? Does everything in your life seem like its going badly? Do you feel tired all of the time? Do you sleep too much or hardly at all? Are you pained by feelings of sadness and emptiness? Are your thoughts foggy, and do you find it tough to concentrate and remember? Have you lost your appetite or can't stop eating? Have you had thoughts of suicide?
Counseling gives you an opportunity to identify the thoughts, behaviors, and feelings you are experiencing. Through the process you can begin to find your energy for life, see the world in a new light, and view yourself in a new positive light.
